Black & White Digital Photography

“Looking at a black and white photograph, you are already looking at a strange world.” – Joel Sternfeld

It’s been said that all beginning photographers should start out shooting black & white and we agree!  In Black & White Digital Photography, students learn the power of contrast.  We hunt for shadows, explore abstract shapes, quest for leading lines and point our lenses toward a magical world without color. Shooting black & white photography helps students begin to get the hang of image composition, balance and tonal contrast and how to take an interesting photograph.  This class is a great jumping off point for junior picture-takers and wonderful way for more experienced students to express themselves with the richness of black & white photography.
