Text-Adventures with Ruby

Forget 8-bit graphics, how about 0-bit?  If you’ve ever played Zork or Adventureland, you know that even without a single goomba or pong paddle, text-adventure games can offer an incredibly fun and immersive experience; perhaps even more-so!  In Text-Adventures with Ruby, students learn the fundamentals of the Ruby programming language by coding an original text-based adventure game. Games can be anything from a Zork-y dungeon crawler (what do you want to with “lamp”?) or a computerized Choose-Your-Own-Adventure game (remember those?).  Anything is possible in the world of text-adventures!  And the best part is, students aren’t expected to come in with programming knowledge, because, hey, that’s what we’re here for!
